Govt allocating Rs 25 mn to build Ashraff memorial museum : Family denies links :

Aman Ashraff has denied links to the government’s allocation of Rs. 25 million for the construction of the Ashraff Memorial Museum in Kalmunai in memory of his late father M.H.M. Ashraff.

Taking to ‘X’, Ashraff, the only son of the Late Minister, clarified that neither he nor his mother are associated with this.

“If he were alive, he would say: “Improve educational standards, address issues in agriculture/fisheries, provide access to expertise and generate career opportunities in new markets for the youth of Digamadulla,” he added.

Aman Ashraff, a television and advertising professional in Sri Lanka, made the remarks after it was reported that upon instructions from President Ranil Wickremesinghe, the construction of the Ashraff Memorial Museum in Kalmunai is to commence immediately.

The late M.H.M. Ashraff, the founder of the Muslim Congress and former Minister, was a distinguished politician who was known to have served the Muslim community, especially in the East of Sri Lanka.

In recognition of his contributions, President Ranil Wickremesinghe has directed the establishment of an “Ashraff Memorial Museum.”

On the occasion of the late Ashraff’s 24th death anniversary, at the request of Digamadulla District Member of Parliament H.M.M. Haris and the Muslim community, plans have been made to build this memorial museum in Ashraff’s hometown, Kalmunai.
