Rishad Bathiudeen, Member of Parliament and leader of the All Ceylon Makkal Congress, stated that the new Islamic year of Muharram marks a pathway to fulfilling the hopes of the Muslim community.
In his message extending wishes for the Islamic New Year, he said:
“Wishing all our Islamic brothers and sisters a blessed Muharram. Let us begin this new year by strengthening our faith and drawing closer to virtuous deeds. Let us take this opportunity to renew broken relationships that were damaged over trivial matters.
Let hearts of faith unite to overcome the challenges faced by Muslims both locally and globally. Colonial powers cannot suppress us. No force can succeed against the strength of true faith. If we live with trust in God and follow the example of His messenger, success is guaranteed. This is the path to achieving victory both in this world and the hereafter.
